The garden before renovation
Just a few plants can start to make a difference
Residents in our care homes would like to enjoy the sense of wellbeing that comes from spending time in the garden. Some homes have already renovated the gardens and created vegetable growing areas which the residents can cultivate and enjoy a real sense of satisfaction from growing their own vegetables and seeing them go from plot to plate.
This is what one of our care home manager's had to say after their garden was transformed: "the residents now take an interest in gardening and growing their own vegetables. The time spent outside is a really boost to their mental health."
Enjoying time outside in the fresh air is something many of us take for granted. Unfortunately the garden of our care home in South London has few plants and no natural shade. The manager of this care home has plans to grass over the concrete and to create a pleasant outdoor space for the residents to enjoy.
£500 would help towards the transformation from concrete jungle to outside haven.
