Eurocamp supporting sign2sing 2018

Eurocamp are once again helping us deliver an amazing 7-day holiday prize to one lucky sign2singer and their family. They have over 180 prime locations, from beach and city breaks, to stays amongst mountains and lakes.

The new song for sign2sing 2017 is here and it’s called Together.   The song, written and sung for sign2sing by BottleTop MusicProductions with additional vocals by Get Gospel, has been brought to life in an uplifting video by Deaf film maker Bim Ajadi.

Bim and his team made the video for the 2016 song Reach Out Your Hand and for 2017 they’ve produced another superb film, featuring deaf performer Rebecca Withey. Filming for the video took place at The Cottesloe School in Wing where students were joined by deaf and hearing pupils from Wingrave C of E Combined School and Gifford Primary School.

Cottesloe School has a well-deserved reputation for excellence in drama and Bim and his team made the most of the fantastic facilities and talented students.  Also featured in the video is footage of deaf children who attend schools supported by SignHealth Uganda.

Deaf perfomer Fletch has also filmed a series of tutorials to hep participants learn the song and signs including a whole song tutorial and a line-by-line guide.

Children at the Summer Fun holiday club at Davenies School in Beaconsfield had a sneak preview of the 2017 song when they were visited by the sign2sing team.  The children learned the first verse and chorus from the new tutorial, featuring Deaf Pop Star Fletch.

The children also had the opportunity to ask questions about deafness and to ask about the signs for their favourite things, including ‘Vikings’ and ‘Romans’.

Well done to everyone at Heathlands School!  Their work to raise money for sign2sing has been recognised in the 2016 Herts Ad School Awards. The special school for deaf children won the Innovation/Project of the Year Awards at the ceremony at Oaklands College.  Heathlands are big supporters of sign2sing and a number of pupils appeared in the video for the 2016 song Reach Out Your Hand.

their hard work and thoughtfulness to others.”

The Herts Ad School Awards recognise excellence in education in the St Albans Area.  The awards ceremony took place on Wednesday 22nd June and saw teachers and pupils rewarded for their contribution to their school and education in the area.

The Innovation/Project of the Year award, which was sponsored by Collinson Hall, is awarded to a school that has embarked on an innovative project within the last 12 months that benefits the school and the wider community.   Heathlands won the award for organizing a number of fundraising events to help sign2sing support vulnerable deaf children in the UK and Uganda.  The judges felt the children deserved the award for their hard work and thoughtfulness to others.

The sign2sing team headed for the studio this week to witness the recording  of the sign2sing song for 2017. The new song, called Together, was written by Bottletop Music who wrote last year’s song Reach Out Your Hand.   It features Sarah Lindsey and Pippa Gearing on vocals, backed by a group of fantastic gospel singers.

We can’t wait to see everyone signing and singing the new song!

IMG_5057The sign2sing team joined the singers and songwriter and producer Tom Gearing in West London to see the song take shape.  As well as a rousing melody, the song boasts inspiring lyrics about being there for others, especially if they feel vulnerable or lonely.

Says Yvonne from sign2sing: “We’re so excited about the new song.  We had such great feedback about Reach Out Your Hand. We think the 2017 song – with its wonderful gospel feel –  will be a winner too. We can’t wait to see schools, businesses and other groups singing and signing the song to help us raise money to help deaf children.

Children from St John the Baptist RC Primary School in Brighton showed off their singing and signing skills this week at the opening ceremony of the Faculty of Public Health Annual Conference and Public Health Exhibition at the Brighton Centre.

The Whitehawk-based school learned the song and signs as part of sign2sing, a fundraising activity organised by the Deaf Health Charity SignHealth. Sign2sing raises money to help vulnerable deaf children in the UK and Uganda.

Eighteen children, aged between nine and eleven, performed Reach Out Your Hand at the conference before an audience of delegates and exhibitors. The inspiring song, which was written specially for sign2sing 2016, has a strong anti-bullying theme and has been performed by schools, businesses and other organisations across the UK and overseas.

St John the Baptist have taken part in sign2sing a number of times in the past, this year raising £366 to help deaf children.

“Everyone at St John the Baptist is really proud to have been involved with sign2sing.It’s such a wonderful introduction to signing and raises money for a really important cause.” said Music Coordinator Jane Noble “We were very excited to have the opportunity to perform the song at the opening of the conference and share the joy of signing and singing with so many people.”
