sign2sing transforms the lives of deaf people
What is sign2sing?
sign2sing is an annual event, organised by the Deaf Health Charity SignHealth, which raises essential funds to help vulnerable deaf children and adults.
Who takes part?
Schools: sign2sing is a fun introduction to learning sign language and fits in well with the communication, music, PSHE and drama areas of the curriculum. Schools tell us it is an amazing event that brings together the whole community. You can use this as an opportunity to link up with local mainstream or special schools and to invite parents, governors and community members to join your event.
Brownies, Cubs, Scouts and Guides: sign2sing is a great way to introduce ideas around communication, disability and inclusivity to your group while having fun raising money. Why not link your event with gaining a disability awareness badge?
Businesses: Businesses tell us that the event is excellent for team building and increasing staff motivation. It offers positive PR and fulfills CSR goals. Employees find the event fun, rewarding and inspiring. Learning some BSL is fun and can help employees communicate more clearly and confidently with deaf customers and colleagues.
Universities: sign2sing can be a fun addition to your RAG activities.
Choirs: Why not add something special to your singing by learning to sign as well. Our specially written songs are ideal for any type of choir. Use our backing tracks or perform your own music using the musical score - the choice is yours.
How do we take part?
You just learn a specially written song and simple signs, which you perform along with the song. You'll have lots of fun while raising money to help vulnerable deaf children and adults. All the resources you need to join in are on the website, from tutorials to help you learn the signs to backing tracks to make your performance really special. Why does sign2sing raise funds to help deaf people?
Imagine living in a world where you cannot communicate with the people around you, from your doctor to someone in a shop. That's what the world is like for many deaf people. Deaf people can often feel isolated, unable to access information and advice that can help help them live happy and healthy lives. Something hearing people take for granted.
sign2sing helps fund projects that improve the lives of vulnerable deaf children and adults by helping them access help and advice on the things that matter to them in their own language - British Sign Language.
sign2sing is delighted to be supported by The Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts. PQA is a weekend performing arts Academy providing tuition for children and young people from 4-18 years. Students spend three hours rotating through hour-long sessions in Comedy and Drama, Musical Theatre and Film and Television. Students are split into groups according to their age and are taught by specialist teachers. Find out more on our supporters page.
And thanks to Eurocamp we can offer a free prize draw to win a fabulous family Eurocamp holiday. Find out more on our supporters page.
