Two weeks ago, as you sang and signed the words to Friends Forever, did it cross your mind that 6,000 miles away another community were doing exactly the same?
This morning we received confirmation that 660 Ugandans joined sign2sing 2015, and a further 1,500 people cheered them on, including the local Mayor and representatives of the Prime Minister of Buganda! Ugandan police and the education department verified the figures, and seven media houses covered the event.
Gathering in Masaka’s children park, £190 was raised for SignHealth, and boxes of water and rice were donated.
Free Health Checks | One thing we were delighted to find out was the event provided free medical assessments and treatment. From hearing and eye tests to dental checks, counselling, blood donation and HIV/Aids tests, Uganda communities came together to promote good health. Knowing that sign2sing raises money for the Deaf Health Charity SignHealth, this news was warmly received.
A huge thank you to everyone involved, and we hope to see the same, if not better, next year!
